POST RACE DETAILS

After crossing the final finish line, receiving their hard earned medal and travelling back to Ulaanbaatar for a shower that will never again be taken for granted, the Awards Banquet took place.  A night of celebration, eating real food, presenting the special awards and watching the photo slideshow and highlights video from the week.

RacingThePlanet history was made as the race was won overall by women for the first time after 79 races. 

First there were the Winners – the Top 3 men and women, the official and group team.
Then there were the age group winners for the men and women
Finally the special Awards – Spirit, Sportsmanship, new 4 Deserts Club members and those who are qualified for The Last Desert (Antarctica).






SPECIAL AWARDS

The Gobi March is a race, and we applaud those at the front and their impressive results, but it's more than that. It's about the experience, the camaraderie and kindness.  We recognise this with two special awards:

    Spirit Award - Rhollan Tsoi - a blind runner from Hong Kong
    Sportsmanship Award - Donald Kwok - Rhollan's guide


NEW 4 DESERTS CLUB MEMBERS
Those people who complete all 4 Deserts Ultramarathons (Atacama Crossing in Chile, Namib Race in Namibia, Gobi March in Mongolia and The Last Desert in Antarctica) join the 4 Deserts Club. They can complete these races over any timeframe. After completing the Gobi March 2026 there are three new 4 Deserts Club Members

  • En Lin Foo from Malaysia

Competitors will now start making their way back to their homes around the world to reunite with family and for the achievement and experience of the last week to sink in.

We hope you have enjoyed following the race and we hope to see or meet you in the future at a race, or through race coverage. We will be back in Mongolia in June 2027.

    The next race is the Namib Race (Namibia) which starts on 16 August 2026.

For now, congratulations to those who were at the start line of the Gobi March and thank you to everyone who supported the race as volunteers in Mongolia and those at home to cheering for their friends and family through their training and the race.
